What is the History of Pilates?
- Joseph Pilates (1881-1967) is considered the founder and creator of the Pilates exercise program.
- Developed over 500 unique exercises in the 1920s.
- Found that a routine with fewer repetitions and more focus on exact, controlled movements, resulted in better yeilds – increased core strength, muscle tone, flexibility, mind-body connection and much more.
- Pilates became a total mind-body conditioning system and grew in popularity in the early 1990s.
